Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre is usually the genre that inspires people to perform, either through a visit to the theatre or watching a movie musical on TV or in the cinema. It combines singing, acting and dancing and the stories are communicated through these.

At Northern Dance Centre our Musical Theatre classes are of course a combination of acting, singing and dancing, and include warm up exercises and games, vocal training and projection, introduction to movement that can be performed while singing, and acting including mime and characterisation. We usually work on several different projects at the same time, making progression towards performances and exams simultaneously.

As with Drama, the emphasis is on fun, and every child is given the opportunity to take a lead role if they want to, or work in a group and build up their confidence if they prefer.
